The City of Norfolk, Festevents and Downtown Norfolk Council created the Collaboratory mission and related process. But we don’t own it. Everyone who takes on any responsibility for advancing Norfolk is an owner of the Collaboratory.
Obviously, this includes major attractions and destinations like the MacArthur Mall, Nauticus and the Chrysler Museum of Art, etc., as well as all of the major developments coming on line such as the new Waterside, Kroc Center, Slover Library, etc. But the Norfolk Collaboratory also includes organizations, companies, associations, and even energized individuals who have a passion for Norfolk’s Future.
The Southeastern Institute of Research (SIR) is supporting our effort. Why SIR? First, they have decades of experience in researching and consulting with destinations, attractions, towns and cities. Second, they know Norfolk. SIR has supported a number of Norfolk institutions, including WHRO, Tidewater Community College, Downtown Norfolk Council, Hampton Roads Transit – to name a few. Furthermore, John W. Martin, SIR’s CEO, is a Norfolk stakeholder. He and his wife, Sara Greer Martin, have a home here.
The list below gives you a good sense of the Collaboratory’s diversity. The only thing missing on this list is you and, if you’re a part of an official organization, the name of your organization.
Fill out the survey and be sure to answer the question that indicates you want your name on the list below – people /organizations who have collaborated.
One thing to keep in mind, being on this list doesn’t mean you’ve signed off on the final brand messaging architecture, it just indicates you have weighed in. So, please join in and help us shape and share Norfolk’s story.
Please note this list will be updated periodically.
